Princeton Artist Brush Co. builds synthetic brushes that behave like the natural hairs they replace, which has made them a default recommendation for watercolourists who do not want to buy sable.

The lines we stock

Aqua Elite. Synthetic kolinsky with real snap and a crisp point, in rounds, quills and flat strokes.

Neptune. Synthetic squirrel, soft and very thirsty, made for wet-in-wet washes rather than fine control.

Heritage. Synthetic sable, the all-round studio line, in rounds from 5/0 up to 16, liners, angle shaders and wash brushes.

Velvetouch. A mixed-filament all-media line that holds a point across watercolour, acrylic and oil.

Elite and Aspen. Elite for kolinsky-style spring in watercolour; Aspen for stiffer synthetic bristle in acrylic and oil.
