Liquitex runs three bodies of the same pigment, and the choice is about consistency, not quality. Heavy Body holds a peak and keeps the brushmark. Soft Body levels out and is built for flat colour, airbrush and staining. Basics is the student line: same pigments in most cases, lower load, far cheaper.

Which one you need

If you paint impasto or with a knife, Heavy Body. If you want flat, even colour with no visible stroke, Soft Body. If you are learning or covering large areas you will paint over, Basics is the honest answer and nobody will see the difference. Acrylic dries a shade darker than it looks wet in all three.

Complete the setup
