Arches Watercolour Paper
Arches watercolour paper in India
Arches has been made at the same mill in the Vosges since 1492. It is mould-made from 100% cotton and gelatin sized in the mass, which is why it takes repeated lifting, scrubbing and masking without breaking down — the reason it remains the default professional paper.
Choosing a surface
Cold pressed is the general-purpose grain: enough tooth for granulation, smooth enough for detail. Hot pressed is smooth, for botanical, illustration and fine linework. Rough has pronounced tooth for dry brush and broken texture.
Formats
Blocks glued on four sides from 10x25cm up to 46x61cm, loose sheets in packs of 10 at 56x76cm, and full rolls, all in 300gsm.
